I had a Discovery Call with Pattie at a time when I was looking to move from a large global FS institution, after what had been an enduring and successful phase of my career. The biggest challenge was that it had been while since changing companies and I was not used to proactively looking for roles, networking or interviewing externally. Prior to speaking with Pattie, I wasn't very clear about how coaching could help, and if it was really necessary.
In summary, it was an amazing journey, building trust through very open and honest discussion which made it easy to deal with even the most complicated topics. Before I started coaching I knew in the back of my mind that I needed to focus my thoughts, strategy and direction of my career but I wasn’t sure how to do this. Having been informally mentored at work I knew the benefit of an independent voice, sometimes only to reinforce what you already know, but I thought it would be worth exploring coaching with a professional coach.
I was not sure how the personal dynamic would work, as I guessed that it was very dependent on whether you can build a rapport with your coach. The thing that allayed my fear was the introductory conversations with Pattie – these reassured me that she was an open, engaging, thoughtful and considered person. Someone I could have a sensible conversation with that would advance and explore the topics I wanted to work on.
The process has been far more revealing and rewarding than I hoped. Pattie is expert at letting you walk through the topics that you want to develop, but most importantly she knows where to pause and dig into issues that require more thought. This is the real value in coaching and Pattie is excellent at this particular aspect of coaching.
The primary benefit of my coaching with Pattie has been to focus on and crystallise what I bring to my job, what makes me tick and what differentiates me against my peers. From this I have really been able to focus on what I’m good at and therefore how to really capitalise on my career and a strategy to take it forward.
Pattie has the right balance of emotional intelligence and soft edges, but also the experience to know when to push and to challenge thoughts that may be holding you back. I quickly built a level of trust with her that accelerated my understanding of my own approach to work challenges.

I was looking for the next chapter in my career and a friend recommended talking to Pattie. I wanted to understand what role and organisation would suit me best, and to get clear on what I am good at, what I bring as a Leader.
My biggest challenge was to focus on what is right for me rather than thinking about what opportunities there were within reach. I wanted a different perspective and to find a coach within whom I could have a good connection.
The process has been great! It was clear, step by step, session by session, from the outset. Pattie created a plan based on my objectives, and I liked that we worked through a specific theme in one session with follow up or prep work for the next session.
It was great to work through my strengths and weaknesses but mostly to uncover my values, to help me secure a position in an organisation which brings the best out of me
Pattie is an excellent listener, and at guiding my thoughts to their conclusion by asking questions rather than telling how it is/should be. She is excellent at summarising and offering extra things that can be helpful to do, read or listen to. She is highly empathetic and interested in the broader world of the person she works with, which is important. She is very organised and manages time in the sessions really well. This sounds mundane but is crucial with my demanding diary. The conversation with Pattie felt easy and yet we always got to where we wanted to go.
As a result of Pattie’s coaching, I understand myself better; my needs and wants, my strengths and weaknesses, and my values. It sounds quite simple, and we all know some of this about ourselves, but applying it in the right way when making a decision or taking the next step isn’t straightforward.
It has really helped me see the value I bring and to learn to pitch / express my value better and more freely.
